Today we recognized the graduates from our church family. Eric Bates and Savannah Church graduated from Park View High School. William Crowder graduated from Brunswick Academy. In addition to graduating from Park View, Dixie Krystle Walker also earned an Associate Degree in Arts & Science from SVCC. Cameron Ashworth also earned an Associate Degree from SVCC in Heating & Air Conditioning. Justin Crowder graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Taylor Crowder graduated from University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Science & Education (Speech & Communications Disorders). Amanda Gibson earned a Master of Arts in Economic Education and Entrepreneurship from University of Delaware.

Building Fund Collection
Don't forget! January 29 th is the fifth Sunday of the month, so a collection plate will be placed in the back of the church to collect for the building fund. The building fund will eventually be used to construct our Family Life Center.

Sending Christmas Greetings?
The GA's have placed a box in the vestibule for Christmas cards sent to members of the Ephesus family. Place your Christmas cards in the box and they will be delivered by the GA's, spreading Christmas cheer and saving you stamps.
Pastor Search Committee Survey
As part of the church study portion of their work, the Pastor Search Committee distributed surveys for the church members and regular visitors to complete. Copies of the surveys will be available on December 11 and by clicking here. The Committee will collect all surveys by 12:15 on December 11. Thank you for your input and continuing prayers.

The Pastor Search Committee will be conducting a survey to determine the pastorial needs and expectations of the church body. The survey will be administered directly after church on November 27 and December 4. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and all members and regular visitors are asked to participate. Surveys will be returned to Amanda Gibson on the day they are administered. If you do not expect to attend services on November 27 or December 4, please contact Amanda Gibson for a copy of the survey.

Mountain Ski Trip
Robert Collins is planning a ski trip for the youth as well as the adults. The date for the trip will be decided when Robert has the group together. Snowshoe Mountain is small enough for the beginners as well as large enough for the experts. Snowshoe Mt. has special rates running for early bookings, but the cut off date for discounts is Oct. 30, so let Robert know ASAP if you would like to join in the fun and fellowship Speakers Series Continues
Though temporarily without a pastor, Ephesus continues to keep the pulpit filled each Sunday. This Sunday, Bob Heard from Henderson, N.C. was our speaker, and next week we look forward to Daniel Palmer from Roanoke, Va. Please keep our weekly speakers in your prayers as they deliver the message.
Pass the Plate!
To continue working toward our goal to finance and build a family life center, Ephesus will place a special offering plate in the church on every fifth Sunday. Everyone is asked to give toward the building fund as they feel led. Sunday, October 30 will be the first Sunday that this plate is available. Every little bit helps!

Hayride at the Hendrick's
On Sunday, October 16, Wayne and Virginia Hendrick hosted a cook out and hayride on their farm. The youth and adults in attendance had a great time throwing horseshoes, eating hotdogs and hamburgers, roasting marshmallows, and fellowshipping with the cows and ghosts that greeted them on the hayride!

Pastor's Retirement Luncheon
Rev. and Mrs. Marvin Clipp were honored today for their 11 years of service to Ephesus with a luncheon. As part of the program following lunch, Howard Darden and Amy Cranford entertained the crowd with photos and spirited anecdotes of the Clipps' time at Ephesus. Jimmy Brooks, Deacon Chairman, read a list of highlights and accomplishments realized by the church under Rev. Clipp's leadership. Mary McAden presented the Clipps with a framed portrait of the members of Ephesus, and Mildred Ryland read a poem commemorating the event.

Crowder Ordained as Deacon Emeritus
William H. "T-Bo" Crowder was honored on Sunday, September 11, 2005 as deacon emeritus for his years of tireless service to Ephesus. T-Bo joined the church in 1945 and first became a deacon in 1968. He served alongside his father and two sons. T-Bo, with the support of his wife, Doris, has been a well-respected leader in the church for many years.
Virginia State Missions Emphasis Week
Today is the first day of Virginia State Missions Emphasis Week and the Alma Hunt offering. This year's theme is "Imagine." Our scripture is from Ephesians 3:20-21. "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly more than all we ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!" Our church goal for the Alma Hunt offering is $2005.

On September 18 at 12:00 Ephesus will celebrate the service of Rev. and Mrs. Marvin Clipp, by honoring them with a luncheon. Anyone who loves the Clipps are invited to attend. Following lunch will be a short program. To be included in the lunch count, please fill out the slip in your bulletin.

Cold Ice Cream on a Hot Day
Ephesus came together this afternoon for fellowship and ice cream during the annual Ice Cream Social. Flavors included peach and pineapple, as well as the old favorites chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. A good time was had by all.
Pastor Search Committee Formed
During a specially called business meeting, a committee was appointed to commence the search for a new pastor. The committee is comprised of Jimmy Brooks, Bill Wright, Mary McAden, Wayne Hendrick, and Amanda Gibson. Please keep these folks in your prayers as their work progresses.

Rev. Clipp Announces Retirement
On July 17, 2005 Reverend Marvin Clipp announced his retirement from pastor of Ephesus Baptist Church effective the end of September. The leadership of Rev. and Mrs. Clipp will be missed. A luncheon will be held in their honor following the service on September 25.
All members are requested to attend a special call business meeting at 12:05 on August 21 to appoint a Pastors Search Committee. Be in prayer about this important committee.

The message this morning, entitled Because of Calvary, was led by Charles James. Mr. James spoke on Gods redemption and peace and experiences from his own Christian walk.
